CUSTOMS returns FOR YEAR An increase of £24,711 on the amount collected during the year ended March 31, 1943, is shown m tne amount of customs and other revenue collected by the. Customs Department, Invercargill, during the financial year ended yesterday. Customs revenue showed an increase of £6929 and there was also a small increase in the sales tax returns. There was a marked increase in the amount of taxes collected under the heading “war expenses. Returns for the quarter ended yesterday showed an increase under all headings on the figures for the corresponding quarter last year. The amount of customs collected last month showed a decrease of £323 compared with the amount collected in March 1943.
