COMMUNITY SING AT MATAURA

As a result of a community sing held at Mataura on Wednesday night in aid of patriotic funds, the sum collected in the hall was £54, the sum of £l6 being realized from an auction of produce and the remainder fi’Sm raffle money, door collections and donations. The sing was conducted by Mr Charles Trim, of Invercargill, assisted by Gore, Mataura and Invercargill performers. Items were given by Mesdames Hubener, Linlater, Adamson, Misses O’Brien, Knowles, Weatherburn and Mr O. Hymen. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Hill and Carter and Piper Ashby. The accompaniments for the community singing were played by Miss Dulcie McDougall, of Invercargill. Cheerios to several well-known residents of Mataura were passed over the loudspeaker system by Mr E. Boyd, of Invercargill.
