EASTER HOLIDAYS
Usual Observance This Year (P.A;) WELLINGTON, March 31. According to official advice received today by the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation the Government has decided that the holiday period this year is to be observed at Easter subject to any special requirements of any controller. Mr D. I. MacDonald, secretary of the federation, explained that where any controller required work to be carried on over Easter direct notification would be given to factories by the controller concerned, and from information he had received such requests would be made to very few factories. Generally speaking, therefore, the ordinary statutory holidays would be observed this Easter. Where work was carried on this would be paid for in accordnace with the appropriate award subject to the provisions of the Overtime and Holidays and Labour Legislation Suspension Orders.
