American Troops Parade In London • • (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 30. Three thbusand American troops paraded thrbugh Trafalgar Square today in honour of London’s “Salute the Soldier” week. They marched past Lieutenant-General John C. H. Lee, European Commander of the United States Army, Dr Somdrville Hastings, chairman of j the London County Council, Lord Latham, Lord Croft, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of War, and Lord Kindersley, president of the National Savings Committee. At a luncheon following the parade Lieutenant-General Lee said that approximately | 1,300,000,000 dollars had been spent by the British Government for the support of American forces in the European theatre. He read the following message from General Eisenhower: “Our soldiers will go into battle with the finest equipment and supplies that modern science can afford. It comes from all the countries

of the greatest team in the history of the world—the United Nations. And when I say our soldiers, I am using the larger meaning—the fighting men of Britain, the Dominions, and the United States and our other Allies, Russia and China, and all men who are fighting the battle for freedom against a bitter, vicious foe.”
