PERSONAL

Mr L. J. Johnston, of Dunedin, is at present in Invercargill. Mr L. H. Frude and Mr Norman MacLean, of the J. Inglis Wright Advertising Agency, are on a business visit to Invercargill. Mr W. Bankes Amery, leader of the United Kingdom Food Mission to Australia and New Zealand, accompanied by Mrs Amery, arrived in Invercargill yesterday. During the afternoon Mr Amery addressed a public meeting in the Victoria Concert Chamber and later he attended a meeting of district farmers. This morning he will meet representatives of the freezing industry. He will leave for the north tomorrow.

Mr G. A. Hayden, secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board, will make a three-day visit to Southland this month. On Wednesday, April 19, Mr Hayden will arrive at Gore, where he will meet representatives of zone committees from the Eastern District. He will visit Winton on the Wednesday night, and the following day he will attend patriotic meetings at Otautau and Riverton. Mr Hayden will be present at a meeting of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council in Invercargill on Friday, April 21. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Mr and Mrs W. Banks Amery (London), A. Searle (Hamilton), Mr I. Lloyd Jones, Messrs J. McFarlane, G. Graham, A. E. Greensmith, R. C. Burgess (Dunedin).
