LIQUOR BLACK MARKET IN AUSTRALIA

Foreign Officials Involved (Rec. 7.35 p.m.) CANBERRA, Dec. 17. Officials of a foreign consulate have been found to be involved in black market liquor transactions, it was stated officially today. Those responsible are claiming diplomatic immunity, but the Commonwealth authorities take tx grave view of the matter and it is not clear whether the claim for diplomatic immunity is admissable. It is alleged that the consulate officials secured liquor from bond and disposed of it on the black market. Commonwealth officers investigating liquor offences in Sydney had their suspicions aroused by the amount of liquor purchased by the officials of the consulate concerned.
