Donnelly’s Fine Innings (Official News Service) CAIRO, July 8. Carrying his bat for his third successive innings for the Gezira Club, M. F. Donnelly, of Canterbury, scored 111. In previous not out performances this New Zealad Test player scored 65 and 49. New Zealand Ordnance defeated a British field park company by 92 runs, James contributing 50 of the New Zealanders’ total of 161. Helwan Royal Air Force beat a New Zealand unit by 52 runs. Stace was top scorer with 55. New Zealand made 147. Declaring at 186 for nine runs (Burgess 54, Scott 62) New Zealand Supply was beaten by an Alexandria club by a narrow margin, the winning hit being from the fourth ball of the final over. Scoring at a fast rate the 19th Armoured Regiment 229 defeated Alexandria Club 216, with three wickets in hand. The New Zealand top-scorers were Whitehead (62), Allen 52), Sumpter (32) and Hundman (23). New Zealand naval personnel stationed in East Africa have organized a Rugby team to play all-comers in the approaching rainy season.
