OPENING OF NEW HALL AT DEAN FOREST

A large and representative gathering from all parts of the district was present at the recent opening of the new hall at Dean Forest. The hall was officially opened by Mr A. P. MacDonald, of Tuatapere, who congratulated the residents of Dean Forest on their enterprise in the erection of such a fine building. He said the building had been erected with free labour and in the spare time of the residents. Apologies for not being able to be present were received from the Hon. T. F. O’Byme, Messrs G. McChesney and G. Lilley. The chairman at the meeting was Mr T. Knowler, and the speakers were Mr G. Skipworth (on behalf of Tuatapere residents), Mr G. P. Duthie (Returned Services Association), Mr D. O’Brien (district farmers) and Mr B. Gow.
