—Mr and Mrs W. Rule, who have sold their farm at Mataura Island, were entertained at a social before their departure. Mr J. Graham presided, and after referring to the part which Mr and Mrs Rule had taken in practically every organization in the . district, he asked Mr Rule to accept a wellfilled envelope as a token of their esteem. Other speakers were Messrs J. McLeary, F. R. Christie and J. Dunlop, Mesdames Russell Stevenson and D. A. Howden.
