Going Strongly

National savings finished very strongly in Invercargill last week, the total deposited in the national savings accounts in the city on Thursday and Friday being no less than £8764. This is more than £7OOO in excess of the city’s national savings weekly quota of £1634, and it is considerably more than double the province’s quota of £3lll. An objective which was in sight when the present loan campaign opened, and which will certainly be attained before it closes, is that of raising the total number of national savings accounts in Southland to 20,000. It is probable that this figure has already been exceeded because it is known that appeals to workers to open national savings accounts by entering group schemes have met with marked success.
