GOOD PRICES FOR THOROUGHBREDS

Interest In Gore Sale The sale of thoroughbred mares, fillies and geldings conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in its horse bazaar, Gore, on Saturday morning on account of the estate of the late Mr James L. Gilkison was attended by a big crowd. A lively interest was taken in the auction and all the horses offered, including several special entries on account of other clients, were disposed of. Of particular interest was the 15-year-old brood mare Steeton, winner of the New Zealand Cup in 1934 and a successful mile performer, which brought 48 guineas. The progeny of this horse were also keenly sought after and brought good prices. Top price for the sale was secured for a three-year-old gelding (Straightcourse-Tray Bond) which was offered on account of Mr E. Phillips (Woodlands), this horse realizing 95 gns. The purchaser was Mr I. Lee (Bluff). The sales were:—
