DRIVEN AWAY FROM MALTA

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, October 1. A force of enemy fighters approached Malta on Thursday morning, but were intercepted by our fighters and turned back some miles from the coast. Later a patrol of Royal Air Force Spitfires on reconnaissance met and turned back a superior number of Italian fighters.
