Mrs E. S. Nichol, Duke street, has returned from a visit to Queenstown. Mrs Angus Macdonald, The Plains, and Mrs A. F. Speight. RedcUils. are spending a holiday at Queenstown. Mrs E. F. Nicoll, Christchurch, is visiting her daughter, Mrs W. E. Hazlett. Filluel street. Hostesses at the Welcome Club this week are members of the Invercargill Tennis Club. On Tuesday night in the Tudor Lounge, the Bridge Circle of St. Catherine’s ExPupils’ Association held the final night for the season. There were 12 tables in play and the prize-winners were: Contract, Mrs A. H. Fitzgerald; auction, Miss Julie Deegan; 500, Mrs Cooper: euchre. Miss Alice Gilfedder; hidden number, Miss M. Cockerill; aggregate for contract. Miss Rose Shepherd: aggregate for auction, Miss Eileen Lyons. Competitions were won by Mrs P. Prendergast and Mrs C. R. Green. The president of the association, Mrs A. H. Fitzgerald, thanked ail those who had helped to make the season the most successful the club had experienced and presented bouquets to the conveners. Miss Doreen Deegan and Miss Jleen Lynch. ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced between Ethel Florence, only daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Sharp, of Auckland, and granddaughter of Mr T. McKay, ’’The Braes,” Mataura, to Harold, only son of Mr and Mrs W. B. Boswell, of Auckland.
