HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT CANCELLED
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, September 25. The Secretary for War (Mr H. L. Stimson) has cancelled the Joe LouisBilly Conn heavyweight bout scheduled for October 12. Mr Stimson explained that the standards and interests of the Army, did not permit the proposed contest being carried out. Sergeant Barrow (Joe Louis) and Corporal Conn would .be returned immediately to their military duties. There was no reflection upon the principals. Furthermore the Army appreciated that _,ouis in the past had generously contributed efforts to the Army and Navy without return.
