PAKISTAN DEMANDED (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) NEW DELHI, Aug. 20. The Moslem League Working Committee, after a* three days’ debate, passed a resolution stating that it is willing to consider any proposals for the creation of a provisional Government in India provided its demand for Pakistan (separate States) is conceded. It is also willing to negotiate bn such proposals with any other political parties, on a footing of equality. The resolution expresses the hope that the Moslems will be able to carry on their peaceful occupations without intimidtaion from any quarter, otherwise it will be compelled to resist in order to protect their lives, honour and property. It adds that the Moslem League is of the opinion that if the Moslem masses are to be aroused to greater war efforts with all sacrifices involved they must be assured they will lead to a realization of their goal of Pakistan. Therefore, the league calls on the British without delay to make an unequivocal declaration guaranteeing this. The Moslem leader, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, denied a report that he contemplates a . meeting with Mr Gandhi.
The curfew in Bombay has been relaxed and the military have been withdrawn from some areas.
