DAIRY FACTORIES

WRIGHTS BUSH. —There was a good attendance of shareholders at the annual meeting of the Wrights Bush Dairy Factory Company Ltd., on Thursday night, Mr Thomas McKenzie being chairman. “So far I have heard of no other factory which has equalled or exceeded our result of l/6.87d per lb after providing for dividend," stated the chairman. Factors which had contributed to the good results of the season’s operations had been the satisfactory yield the high quality of the cheese and general economy in manufacture. Already there had been paid 1/5 per lb butterfat for first grade milk and a further l%d per lb butterfat was being paid. There was still held in reserve, after allowing for a dividend of 2>/ 2 per cent., ,09d per lb butterfat to which had to be added the price per lb which might result from any bonus paid on cream. The distribution of l%d absorbed £2257. When all the earnings from manufacturing and marketing were distributed the sum paid to suppliers in the district for the season would exceed £24,000. Undoubtedly one of the causes for the good return to suppliers had been the splendid grading results attained by the manager, Mr George Knox. The thanks of the suppliers were due to Mr Knox. The actual amount obtained through the high quality of cheese produced amounted to about £270 over the actual basic guaranteed price, equal to ,21d per lb butterfat. The retiring directors, Messrs C. Bray and T. S. Muirhead, were re-elected. The question of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was discussed and it was left for individual suppliers to decide whether to join or not. Tributes were paid to the manager, Mr Knox, not only for the high financial return resulting from his management, but also for the quality lie had produced. Mr McKenzie was re-elected chairman.
