BUILDING WITHOUT PERMIT SOLDIER and CITIZEN write concerning “Guardsman’s” protest against the Invercargill City Council’s decision that a garage built without a permit should be pulled down. “Soldier” quotes the Deputy-Mayor as having said that “nothing else matters at the moment but the winning of the war” and declares that the retention of the garage will enable the resident’s cai’ to re- ; main, at the service of the Home Guard. “Citizen” asks under what authority building permits are granted and claims that there is no uniformity in location or size about the garages in the city.
