VITAMIN PILLS NOT A SUCCESS

(Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 2. Vitamin pills which the Nazis are reported to have used to build up the morale, endurance and courage of their troops have proved a failure in experiments conducted by the United States Army. When Congress last year extended the service of draftees beyond 12 months the morale of the draftees dropped a few points. Hundreds, of “morale pills” containing vitamins were then taken by the men on army orders, but the pills did not raise the men’s spirits. Dr A. Keys, who supervised the tests, said: “There seems to be little excuse for the therapeutic prescription of vitamin tonics for the tired business man and the nervous club woman.”
