BASKETBALL
EASTERN ASSOCIATION The Eastern Southland Basketball Association was revived at a meeting of representatives of district clubs at Gore last night. An executive was appointed and the association will be conducted on similar lines to the Southland Union. Mrs T. Noble (president), and Misses M. Watson (secretary) and M. Godward, of the Southland Union, were present at the meeting. Mrs Noble said that the union had been sorry to hear that no basketball would be played in Eastern Southland this year. Eastern Southland had always fielded strong teams and members of the union were present to give the district some assistance. It was hoped that the association would be reformed and conduct it on constitutional lines. The meeting agreed that the association should be reformed and the following of-fice-bearers were elected: President. Mr R. G. Kitto; vice-presidents, Misses M. Whelan and A. Winning; secretary and treasurer, Mrs M. Zwimpfer; committee, Mesdames W. Shore and W. Tither, MisSes L. Wallis, P. Hoffman. W. Hurst, L. Purvis and the Bev. Father A. Welsh.
