Late News RAID ON CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL

LONDON, May 1. Described as a reprisal for the raid on Cologne, a German raid on Canterbury last night had the Cathedral as one of its objectives. There were 50 German planes over Britain, compared with the total of more than 1000 British bombers wihch raided Germany the previous night, and 25 of them attacked Canterbury. It has been decided in London not to help the Germans by announcing whether or not the cathedral was hit.
