SUCCESSFUL STREET APPEAL

£5B/15/- FOR PATRIOTIC PURPOSES The sum of £5B/15/- was collected by the Gladstone Patriotic Sub-Com-mittee as a result of a street day appeal in the dug-out in Dee street yesterday. Foodstuffs sold well during the day and the sale of vegetables alone brought in almost £lO. The stall was managed by women members of the committee under the supervision of the secretary, Mrs G. R. Milward. Included in the proceeds, which will be devoted to the appeal for £50,000, was the sum of 8/9 which was contributed by ' Ronnie Smith, aged 8, of Filluel street, who raised the money by collecting bottles and selling sand.
