TALL TALES FROM TOKYO
(Rec. 5.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, March 5. The Minister of the Navy, Mr J. O. Makin, today, urged radio listeners to ignore Tokyo broadcasts concerning Japanese naval successes. He said that the Japanese were fully exercising their faculty for imitation by slavishly copying German methods of propaganda and wholesale exaggeration. The latest instance was Tokyo’s absurd claim to have sunk 23 Allied vessels in Netherlands East Indies waters, including two Australian cruisers. Mr Makin warned Commonwealth listeners to apply the proverbial grain of salt to anything and everything emanating from Tokyo.
