PLACED ON RETIRED LIST

(8.0.W.) RUGBY, March 3. Sir Arthur Longmore, InspectorGeneral 'tof the Royal Air Force, has been placed on the retired list at his own request in order to accelerate the promotion of younger officers. He was appointed Inspector-General in July, 1941, on his return from overseas where he had been Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Royal Aii - Force, Middle East, since May, 1940. During his period of command he was responsible for the Royal Air Force’s part in General Wavell’s advance in the first Libyan campaign. Sir Al'thur Longmore has been adopted as the National Government candidate in the by election at Grantham.
