(8.0.W.) RUGBY, February 25. Asked in the House of Commons why the British Government had requested the Canadian Government to remain in diplomatic relations with Vichy, when his Majesty’s Government, itself, had severed such relations the Foreign Secretary, Mr Anthony Eden, said: “In reply to a request received from his Majesty’s Government of Canada for an indication of its views as to the desirability of maintaining diplomatic relations with the Vichy Government his Majesty’s Government stated that it considered it would be in the common interest for his Majesty’s Government in Canada to remain in diplomatic relations with Vichy.”
