CONSTABLE OBSTRUCTED AT RIVERTON

Constable A. Knapp, of Invercargill, who is at present relieving at Riverton, was wilfully obstructed at Riverton on Wednesday. The trouble occurred while the Winton school excursion to Colac Bay was returning and while the train was waiting at the Riverton station. A complaint was made to the police at Riverton about the conduct of some of the passengers and Constable Knapp warned the men who were alleged to have given offence. They retaliated by obstructing the constable, who was thrown to the ground. He was rescued from further injury by two local men.
