METHODIST MINISTRY
ADMISSION OF WOMEN DISCUSSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 20. The Methodist Conference, which is meeting in Wellington, decided today to set up a special commission to consider and report on the question of the admission of women into the ordained ministry of the church. The report of the Special Deaconess Investigation Committee, which met in Wellington during the year, was presented and discussed fully. Of the problems that confronted the committee the main ones were the type of training to be given deaconesses and an assurance that employment would be forthcoming at the end of their training. In a discussion on the work of the Auckland Central Mission it was announced that Mr William Astley, of Mt. Albert, Auckland, had recently handed over his home to the mission and that the property would shortly be used as a rest home.
