INCREASED PROFIT
SOUTHLAND SUMMER SHOW “I wish to thank the directors for their efforts in making the summer show the success it was,” said the president, Mr T. Hamilton, at a meeting of directors of the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. In spite of the crisis that had developed with the entry of Japan into the war, the show had been held as usual and the directors had given their services unstintingly. It was unfortunate that their Excellencies Sir Cyril and Eady Newall were not able to attend the opening ceremony. Mr John Macdonald replied on behalf of the directors. The balance-sheet of the summer show disclosed a surplus of £409/7/compared with the surplus of £371/8/1 for the previous show, an increase of £3B. Mr A. M. Weir said that the position was very satisfactory.
