DEFENCE CONTRACTS IN AMERICA
ALLEGED PROFITEERING (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 Increasing and excessive profiteering by defence contractors was alleged in a strongly-worded report of the Congressional Naval Affairs Committee to the House of Representatives. The report says that the profits of naval contractors averaged more than six per cent, for completed contracts, and more than eight per cent, for uncompleted contracts. This indicated that profits increased with increasing defence. Therefore, the report recommended strict measures to eliminate the profiteers.
