SHIP DELAYED AT WESTPORT

CREW DISSATISFIED WITH COOKING (P.A.) WESTPORT, Decembex - 29. The crew of a Union Steam Ship Company vessel at present at Westport refused to take the ship to sea because they were dissatisfied with the cooking and wanted the cook replaced. As a result the ship has been laid up since Saturday. The local manager of the company said there were no grounds fox - replacing the cook and the men were liable to prosecution fox - disobeying the lawful command of the master. The men were in touch with the Seamen’s Union and Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union headquarters in Wellington and tonight received instructions which resulted in the men deciding to put to sea when ordered.
