BRITON SENTENCED IN ABSENTIA
(Rec. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 25,
The German News Agency reports that after a 50-day trial, which is a record for Bulgaria, a special court in Sofia sentenced to death in absentia Norman Davis, formerly Press attache at the British Legation, M. Georgi Dimitrov, general secretary of the Communist International, and M. Retkovic, the former secretary of the Yugoslav Legation, on charges of preparing a revolt in Bulgaria at the begining of 1941. Eleven who appeared were also sentenced to death.
The accused allegedly aimed Io “change Bulgaria's political and social regime with the assistance of foreign Powers.”
