RENEWAL OF BRIDGE APPROVED

The proposed work between the Mataura river and Cameron’s homestead on the Parawa-Nokomai road had been laid off and proposals for the work forwarded to the Public Works Department, reported the engineer (Mr G. R. Milward) at the Southland County Council’s meeting yesterday. It was exdecking from the old bridge and cappected that the work would begin late in January. Because Harcourt’s bridge on the road was unsafe it was proposed to rebuild it. It was proposed to use sils and beams from the Old Job’s ford bridge. The cost to the ridings concerned would be about £45 each. The council approved the proposals.
