INVERCARGILL FIRE BRIGADE
FOURTEEN CALLS RECEIVED DURING MONTH
The report submitted by the acting superintendent of the Invercargill Fire Brigade, Mr R. A. Robertson, to the monthly meeting of the Invercargill Fire Board at its meeting yesterday stated that the brigade had attended 14 calls during the month. These comprised six chimney fires, two grass fires, two property fires, two automatic false alarms, one malicious false alarm ana
one investigation. Slight damage had been done to a dairy factory building and severe damage to the building and contents had resulted from a fire in a vulcanizer’s premises.
All street fire alarms had been tested and found to be in order. Testings had been carried out regularly of all automatic alarms and with the exception of two they had been in order. The chairman, Mr W. G. Tait, had given permission for E.P.S. equipment to be lent for a display to be given in H. and J. Smith’s by the Department of Industrie® and Commerce showing what could be made from waste material. The report was adopted.
