SCOUT DISPLAY AND DANCING

WEALTH OF JUVENILE TALENT

A wealth of juvenile talent was revealed at the grand demonstration by the Invercargill Boy Scouts and the Southland School of Highland and Classic Dancing in the Civic Theatre last evening. There was a fair attendance. The demonstration, the proceeds of which will be devoted to Invercargill Boy Scout funds, was the result of much preparation. During the evening the audience was delighted by the displays given by the pupils of the Southland School of Highland and Classic Dancing. The dancers, who have been trained by the principal of the school (Mr Alex Sutherland), acquitted themselves with distinction. The items given by the Scouts, were also much appreciated by the audience.

Items by Miss Isobel Lange and Master Alex Lange were well received. Miss Lange in hei- song “O Dry Those Tears,” was particularly impressive. Misses Rosalie Ferry and Marie Winders were also popular in their pianoforte duets.

At the conclusion of the programme Dr C. C. Anderson, district Scout commissioner for Invercargill, thanked Mr Sutherland for his efforts to make the demonstration a success, and also the other performers who had generously offered their services. Dr Anderson also mentioned Scout Week, which is to be held on February 21, 22 and 23.
