N.Z. PRISONERS’ MESSAGES
OVER VATICAN RADIO A Vatican City broadcast which included messages from New Zealand prisoners of war was heard by Mr. ——, of Durham Street, Christchurch, who has supplied details for publication.
Mr. —— said that the Vatican City radio was heard about 6.30 each evening on the 25-metre band. From the nature of the messages, he gathered that the New Zealanders advised their friends and relatives that letters could be sent to them via Vatican City Radio, and they preferred letters sent by clipper airmail.
Details of the messages, as supplied by Mr , were as follows:— To Mrs , Hay Street, Christchurch, from . “Wound healed. Getting rid of sticks. Love to all. Cheerio.”
To Mr. , Aro Street, Wellington—“Good health, except eyes. Left Greece hospital ship August.”
