Regent To Screen Air Drama
A dramatic and instructive story of young pilots in the American Air Force, “I Wanted Wings,” begins on Saturday at the Regent Theatre. The film deals with the relationships between young pilots in training and the girls they do not have to leave behind them. Ray /lilland, William Holden and Wayne Morris play pilots-in-training, and Brian Donlevy that of their chief instructor. Veronica Lake and Constance Moore supply the feminine interest.
Yet the real story of this film is not concerned with the fiction characters, but with the real-life business of the American Air Force. Little human details of training life are specially well handled by Brian Donlevy as a pilotinstructor. Details of the machines, of their work and the work of the men who fly them are excitingly pictured, and a wealth of topical information is passed on the audience. Of very special interest are the shots of Flying Fortress bombers under repair, on the ground, and in the air.
