TWO CAMPS FOR TERRITORIALS

FURTHER PARTICULARS Further instructions have now been received by the military authorities in Invercargill about the camps which are to be held next year for territorials who have done their three months’ intensive training. Tire first camp will be held from January 5 to March 3 and the second from March 9 to May 5. Territorials belonging to the First Southland Regiment and C Company, Second Scots Battalion, will be required to attend the first camp, and the second camp is for territorials belonging to the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry and tire Otago Mounted Rifles. There are two squadrons of the Otago Mounted Rifles in the No. 12 (Invercargill) Military District. Applications for exemption from either camp will be considered by the Man-Power Committee. Appeals in respect of men called up for the first camp must be lodged by Monday. It is expected that they will be considered by the Man-Power Committee early next month. About 100 such appeals have already been received. Appeals in respect of men called up for the second camp must be lodged by January 12. Major H. C. Mackenzie, area officer at Invercargill, stated yesterday that men exempted from either camp would probably be called upon to do their training later in the year, but he had received no information about when that would be.
