MORTON MAINS

SUCCESSFUL CONCERT A successful concert was presented to a large audience in the Morton Mains Hall recently. It was organized by the Morton Mains branch of. the W.D.F.U. singing class, and reflected great credit on the tutor, Mr J; Simpson. During the evening the choir was heard to advantage. Features of the programme were items from visitors, including vocal numbers in character by the Misses Chamberlain, songs by Miss Sheila Campbell, national dances by Miss-Betty Thompson, and elocutionary items by Mr Owen Hymen, Gore. A novelty number in the form of a Hawaiian scene was most effectively, staged by a group of players from Edendale, and this proved one of the highlights of the evening. Local artists who contributed, vocal numbers were Misses M. Edie and. J. Sutherland and Messrs K. Sutherland and M. Sutherland. After the performance a vote of thanks to all those who had contributed to the evening’s entertainment was proposed by Mr J. Edie, Morton Mains. Supper and dancing brought the evening to a close. Mr J. Findlay was M.C. for the dance, and the music was supplied by Messrs Halliday and Flannery.'
