“The Battle of Russia is being waged with unrelenting fury and the people of Russia are heroically fighting our battle also,’’ stated Mr W. G. Nield, district organizer, National Savings, yesterday. “As the Russians retreat, they sacrifice their all—homes, food supplies, factories and everything else
—leaving devastation only for the ruthless Nazi invaders. Should we not now be prepared to make some sacrifice for the conflict may be closing in upon us both in the Middle East and elsewhere? By means of National Savings all can help to win even the ‘Battle of Russia,’ for that country appeals for more and still more munitions of war. Our own forces need them too and every shilling lodged to National Savings is another nail in the coffin of Hitlerism.”
