OHAI RAILWAY BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Ohai Railway Board was held at Wairio. Accounts amounting to £1421/16/11 were passed for payment. The general manager, Mr A. W. Rodger, reported that since the last meeting of the board the quantity of coal hauled over the railway had been 1723 tons greater than in the corresponding month last year. The total tonnage for the expired portion of the financial year was 8760 tons more than in the same period last year. Functions arranged to commemorate the constitution of the Ohai railway district and the first meeting of the board had been held. The traffic manager, Mr R. Donnelly, reported that since the last board meeting the working gang had resleepered a further portion of the main line between Wairio and Nightcaps. A new siding had been laid to the site of the workshop in Wairio and the gang was levelling the ground in preparation for the foundation walls and floor of the workshop. The overhaul of No. 4 locomotive was well in hand. The report was approved.
