IMPORT LICENSING ALTERATIONS
Alterations in the import licensing provisions affecting a variety of imports have been issued. In most cases the alterations allow increases in the quantities that may be imported. The following articles are affected: Whitebait netting (ex tariff item 182), rubber tires and tubes (tariff item 205, 6a), lawn bowls (ex tariff 'item 239), cartridges (tariff item 322, Id), circular saws, jewellers’ and artificers’ tools (tariff item 354), timber (tariff items 389 c, 404, 3), veneers and plywood (tariff item 414, 1), ginger in brine (ex tariff item 449, 2), chemically pure caustic soda (tariff item 124). The balances of fifth period licences granted for imports of prunes from Australia may be amended to permit their importation from the United States. Fuller information concerning the alterations may be obtained from the Customs Department, Invercargill.
