REQUEST FOR GRAVELLING OF ROAD

“We have been approached by ! several residents in the Nithdale district to make representations to have the i Nithdale-Diamond Peak road gravel- [ led,” stated a letter from the Automobile Association (Southland) considered at a meeting of the Southland County Council yesterday. “It is pointed out that if this were done it would save the residents considerable mileage in travelling to Gore and Mataura. They would be able to take a direct course instead of travelling for a distance in almost the opposite direction. In these days of petrol restrictions this matter has become important to residents of the Nithdale district.” The matter was left in the hands of the riding member and the engineer.
