Taking advantage of the relief afforded by Section 43 of the Finance Act 1941, the Auckland Gas Company has reduced the interest on 5 per cent, perpetual debenture stock to 3| per cent, free of income tax. If the holder of any debentyre sold it before August 31, 1940, the purchaser from him, in terms of the Act, if still holding it by August 31, 1941, may call on the company to redeem it. Similarly, any subsequent purchaser of such debenture still holding it by August 31, 1941, has a similar right of redemption.
