SEA EROSION,— A close investigation into sea erosion by the Marine Department was promised by the Minister for Marine (the Hon. R. Semple) during a discussion on the Estimates in the House of Representatives yesterday. The Minister said he was satisfied from a personal investigation throughout the country that while sea erosion was not the same big problem as river erosion, it was still a big problem. Several parts of the coast were threatened. He was in favour of carrying out protection work before the damage was too great, as then the cost would be less.—Special.
