OBITUARY

MR W. G. BRASS The death occurred suddenly in Christchurch on Tuesday morning of Mr W. George Brass, a cousin of Mr J. S. Brass, of Invercargill, and a wellknown business man and sportsman of Christchurch. Mr Brass, who was 62 years of age, and was born in Invercargill, was secretary of Christchurch Cinemas, Ltd., the New Coliseum Ltd., Waters and Spence, Ltd., Regent Theatre Buildings (Christchurch), Ltd., and the Caledonian Society. He was prominent in Christchurch bowling circles, was a well-known trotting enthusiast, and took a great interest in the Caledonian Society, having in February of this year completed 25 years of continuous service as secretary. A great deal of the success that attended that society’s various concerts and entertainments was due to Mr Brass, who took a large part in the National Scottish Movement in the city. Mr Brass was an enthusiastic trotting supporter. He was a member of the Metropolitan Trotting Club in Christchurch and was a steward for many years, while three or four years ago he was appointed a member of the committee. He was also a member of the Canterbury Jockey Club. Mr Brass leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs A. Joyce and Miss P. Brass. MR A. E. GLOVER (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 11. The death has occurred of Mr Albert Edward Glover, aged 93, a former member of Parliament for Auckland Central.
