DEATH FROM MENINGITIS

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 9. Meningitis, which does not appear to have been of the cerebro-spinal type, caused the’death of a patient in the Hawera Hospital today Pending confirmation of the diagnosis, members of the deceased’s family have been isolated. The medical officer of health for Taranaki (Dr J. H. Blakelock) said that death was only possibly due to cerebro-spinal meningitis. The only other case of meningitis reported in the whole of Taranaki was a very mild one in the New Plymouth Hospital.
