Chaplain Captain W. H. Greenslade leaves by the express this morning for the Army School at Trentham. Mr John Macdonald, manager of the Invercargill branch of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., is at present on a visit to Wellington. He expects to return home on Thursday. Mr V. J. Wise, manager of the Invercargill office of the A.M.P. Society, is at present on holiday in the North Island. Mr A. G. Henderson will be acting manager during his absence. Mr Charles Martin left Invercargill by the express yesterday afternoon for Dunedin. He will return next Friday. Mr F. G. Hall-Jones has returned from the annual Dominion Rotary conference at Palmerston North. Inspector T. Gibson, who will retire from the Police Force today, will leave for Christchurch by the exDress tomorrow morning. The Rev. J. A. Thomson will leave today for Dunedin. He will return to Invercargill at the end of this week. Captain J. E. Cuthill, commandei' of the Home Guard for the Invercargill area, has returned to Invercargill after attending a short course at Burnham camp. ' Mr D. J. Wesney returned yesterday afternoon from Wellington, where he attended the annual meeting of the New Zealand Timber Merchants' Federation. Mr D. Harris, secretary of the Southland Drivers’ Union, will leave by the express this morning to attend a meeting of the national executive of the Drivers’ Federation. Messrs J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., J. Price and E. Hodgson, members of the No. 6 Armed Forces Appeal Board, arrived in Invercargill yesterday afternoon from Dunedin. They were accompanied by Mr A. N. Haggitt, who appears for the Crown. The board will be occupied in Invercargill until Thursday week. At the evening service of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Bluff, on Sunday, Leading Aircraftman Russell Pearce was presented with a Bible on behalf of the congregation by the minister, the Rev. A. M. Ferguson. Mr W. H. Moyes, head master of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School foi the past 29 years, has announced his intention of resigning because of illhealth. Mr A. J. Waghorn, lecturer in method and geography at the Wellington Teachers’ Training College, has been appointed vice-principal of the college, l in succession to Mr F. L. Combs, who has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Education Department.
