MOVING POPULATION IN CITY
ONE-THIRD OF ELECTORS CHANGE ADDRESSES Since the last election one-third of the population of Invercargill has moved at least once. Out of a total of 15,064 electors about 5000 have either moved within or out of the electorate. These conclusions have been drawn from figures taken out by the staff of the registrar of elector’s office. They show that contrary to general belief, quite a large proportion of the population of Invercargill is a moving one. Of the total number of electors on the roll just over 3000 have changed their addresses within the electorate. The staff has had to strike off the names of 3515 electors, the reason in most cases being that the electors have not notified the registrar of their change of address. The new roll contains 13,643 names and is ready for printing if required. Should there be an ‘ election there will probably be about 3000 names placed on the supplementary roll. Last month over 600 persons applied to have their names put on the roll.
