MINES REPORTED
SHIPPING DANGER IN HAURAKI GULF WAIMARINO DELAYED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 27. Three floating mines reported on Saturday to be adrift in the Hauraki Gulf between Great Barrier and Little Barrier Islands have not yet been recovered. All shipping is advised to keep a sharp look-out for this danger, and a warning was broadcast at frequent intervals during the week-end. When the Monterey, which arrived this morning from Sydney, came down the coast in darkness a strict watch was kept but nothing unusual was seen. The Union Company’s steamer Waimarino which was scheduled to sail late on Saturday night for Lytteiton and Bluff, was delayed by mines and left at 7 o’clock this morning in order not to be in the danger area during the hours of darkness.
