Senior Championship Won By Otago Rider The Southland 25 Mile Time Trial was won on Saturday by D. Smart, the only Otago rider, whose time was very fast under the conditions. L. Johnston was second and J. Black third. C. Campbell won the junior title from D. Young and L. Heath. The weather •wits unpleasant:— The starters were: D. Ward, L. Johnston, D. Smart, A. Waddick, H. Jones, H. Mitchell, C. Campbell, J. Black, R. Duncan, D. Young, J. McKenzie, J. O’Neill, F. Aim, D. McKenzie, R. Hall, R. Heath, P. Millar, A. Pedlar, D. Milne and L. Hubber. The final placings were:— SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. — D. Smart (Ihr 7min 25sec) 1, L. Johnston (Ihr Bmin 26sec) 2, J. Black (lhr 19min 18sec) 3. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. — C. Campbell (lhr llmin 32sec) 1, D. Young (lhr 12min 35sec) 2, L. Heath (lhr 16min 23sec) 3. SEALED HANDICAP.—F. Aim (6Jmin) 1, J. Black (Simin) 2, L. Hubber (6i-min) 3, D. Milne (12min) 4. D. Smart, who has competed in this event for the past four years, scored a popular win, his previous best placing being second in 1939.
