SOUTHLAND DRIVERS’ UNION
LIGHTING RESTRICTIONS CRITICIZED
The opinion that the lighting restrictions enforcing the use of parking lights were too stringent, although the use of one headlight was considered reasonable, was expressed by transport operators and drivers at a special meeting of the executive of the Southland Drivers’ Union. The meeting was held to consider the Auckland drivers’ attitude to the lighting restrictions. It was stated that the restrictions did not affect Southland drivers to the same extent as they affected the Auckland drivers, but the Southland Union was fully in sympathy with the Auckland men.
The restriction signs for the Invercargill area are now being painted and they will not be erected until next week. The lettering is silver on a black background.
